On Saturday 17th February we were delighted to be part of Burnley FC in the Community’s 10 Year Anniversary celebrations at their annual Community Day before the Burnley vs Arsenal game, being part of the family fun and entertainment going on in the Fanzone.

Ever since the launch of Clarets Collected we have been working closely with BFC in the Community, and when I approached them about doing something together to mark their annual Community Day I was really pleased when they invited us down to Turf Moor itself to take part.

In addition to being able to promote awareness of us in general we were also able to use the opportunity to talk to people about our upcoming “BFC & Me” photos exhibition, celebrating fans’ experiences with Burnley Football Club. BFC in the Community generously promoted us on their social media and websites too – as they phrased it: “Join us in the Fanzone to meet the people behind Clarets Collected and view some of the fantastic items already part of the collection”.

So myself, Senior Archivist David Tilsley, and one of our invaluable volunteers Alison Hey, all went to the Fanzone and what a wonderful day we had, interacting with over 150 adults and children in the time leading up to kick-off. We also gave out dozens of leaflets regarding our appeal for fans’ photographs for “BFC & Me”, trying to make it as wide ranging as possible.

Contributions of fans photos are coming in, and we are really very excited to be able to put this together. “BFC & Me” is scheduled for launch before the game against Brighton on 13th April, so please do watch out for it, and maybe see yourself in the featured display!
